Money challenge - day#1
I am going to take the next 30 days (the month of September) to take a long, hard look at my money. I have a few goals:
1) Determine how much money I have a spend and create a budget
2) To ask God for creative ways that I can be blessed financially and be a blessing
3) To study what Jesus says about money (I've always heard people say "Jesus talked more about money than anything else ... I want to see if that is true for myself. And see what he really said.")
Today I made a bank deposit.
[gasp!]
I know you are blown away. Truth is ... Jackie always does it. But by depositing our checks today, I had the opportunity to look and see how much goes in the bank every two weeks. Which, inevitably, leads me to ask the question, "Where does it all go?"
And that is exactly what this month is about. I'm going to take that amount and enter it in at the top of my budget. At the end of the month. Every penny will have a place!
Great idea I just had: I'm not very disciplined at coupon cutting (neither is Jackie). So, I think the best motivater for us would be to plan our food budget around NOT cutting coupons and going to 3 different stores. Then ... if we have something we really want to save for ... we can use that as a motivator to save on a few weeks' food budget ... and get what we want! First item that this couple with a new baby wants to save on ...
