Sick? Try praying.

Pray when you're sick.

I know, it's a novel idea.

I'm really pulling out the deep insights here.

This week I have been battling some kind of crazy throat thing. It hurt to breathe, swallow, or anything related to the throat. And it wasn't giving any signs of slowing. My amazing wife, Jackie, was taking good care of me -- giving me the perfect mix of vitamins, drugs, soups, teas, and cough drops. But more than that, she was praying. She wouldn't let me go a few hours without asking me if I was praying for God to heal me.

It was a nice reminder.
I would like to think that my God is both capable AND willing to help me when I'm miserable. It wasn't like I was on my deathbed, but it was kind of annoying.

But, without that reminder, I was just in the "coasting along" mentality. Just take it as it comes. (fully expecting that this would last about a week and a half like it did for everyone else who let me know about their similar viral misery).

Well, I woke up this morning totally healed.

Now I get to preach tomorrow with a nice little reminder of the goodness of my God -- both by giving me a clear throat to preach with and by giving me an ever-present reminder of his goodness to me -- my wife.
